Welcome!

Welcome to the website of the Texas

State Railroad Society, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our prime purpose is to enhance the experience of the visitor to the Texas State Railroad, the communities that it served, and the history and nature of its environment.

The Society wishes to create and maintain a diverse membership that appeals to all who share a common interest in the Texas State Railroad and the area through which it passes.

From our membership, we will encourage and cater to the various expressions of railroad interest. Our

intent is to provide a volunteer force that is rich in knowledge and ability, capable of addressing a broad range of projects.

Our Ethics

We acknowledge and respect the fact that there are other organizations that have similar interests and goals to our own. We're here to complement, not compete.  If we conflict, please let us know.

Our Activities

The Texas State Railroad Society's activities can be divided into three areas of operation:-

  •  Texas State Railroad (our desired prime area of support)

  •  Railroad Heritage Center of Palestine (a project initiated in 2016 and opened in 2017 to focus on the railroad   industry of the area surrounding the Texas State Railroad, and initiate and nurture all facets of interest in   railroading)

  •  Administration, a necessity for all.
